Course Directors Welcome Note
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
We are delighted that you are participating in our inaugural NUHS-BIDMC (Major Teaching Affiliate of Harvard Medical School) Internal Medicine Update 2011. Together with the faculty, we would like to take this opportunity to extend a most warm welcome to all of you.
Held from 27 to 30 May 2011, the course faculty comprises some of the best clinician educators at Boston’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Singapore’s National University Health System. They will address key issues in the areas of Internal Medicine, and also touch on a number of sub-specialties like Nephrology, Hepatology, Endocrinology, Oncology, and Cardiology.
The 3-day course will also include a special lecture on “Leadership for the 21st Century: The Ten Tenets of Leadership”. Interactive “Challenging Cases with Participation” sessions are also incorporated into the course to enable you to anonymously test your knowledge in selected areas of medicine.
An attendance of more than 300 participants from the local fraternity and Asia-Pacific region is expected to join us in this inaugural event. We hope the event will not only provide a learning platform for you, but opportunities to network with local and international experts. You will also learn much from the sharing of experiences and knowledge through the lectures and interactions.
We trust you will leave informed, perhaps even inspired to cherish all that is glorious and best about the medical profession. It is our fervent hope that the new knowledge that you acquire will allow you to practise state-of-the-art medicine so that your patients will live healthier and happier lives.
